Week starting from 17th to 21st August 2015
EQUITY MARKET PERFORMANCE
i. Weekly Turnover Trends
Week on week turnover recordings decreased,
the week recorded a total turnover of TZS 1.74
billion, X167 down in comparison to a total
turnover of TZS 28.68 billion in the previous
week.
The number of shares traded also decreased by
71.65%, the total number of shares trade were
899,315 compared to shares traded
the previous week, 3,171,997.
Foreign investor participation was high, 54.49%
of the total turnover. Foreign participation was
mainly on TBL counter 52.92% of the total
turnover.
ii. Most Traded Securities
The week’s busiest counter was CRDB. The
company accounted to 63.66% of total number
of shares transacted, whereas TOL and TBL
counters accounted to 19.05% and 6.93%
respectively.
iii. All Index Share
All Share index lost 22.26 points to settle at
2579.71 points from
2,601.97 points the previous week. The loss was
mainly attributed to an increase in share prices
on EABL, JUBILEE, KCB, NMG, NMB, TBL, and
TCC counter.
iv. Sectorial Performance and Indices
The Industrial and Allied sector contributed the
highest proportion of turnover for the week,
77.04% of total turnover. Transactions were
mainly carried out on TBL counter, 54.02% of
the total turnover.
The Banking sector accounted to 20.21% of the
total turnover, CRDB was the main contributor in
the sector, 13.17% of the total turnover. While
the Commercial Services sector contributed
0.02% of the total turnover, with most
transactions carried out on SWISSPORT
counter.
